Microneedle RF
Microneedle radiofrequency uses fine needles to deliver heat into the dermis. The cost is shaped by the single-use tip, the area and how many sessions the plan includes.
How it works
A handpiece with a tip of tiny needles is pressed on the skin. The needles penetrate to a set depth and release radiofrequency energy that heats the deeper layers while the surface is partly spared. This prompts renewal that can improve scars, texture and pores, and may reduce oil. Plans commonly involve three to five visits about a month apart. Cost follows the tip type, the area, the depth and the sessions. Results vary by person.
Who it may suit
- Acne scars and rough texture
- Enlarged pores and oily skin
- Mild laxity and fine lines
- People who accept a few days of pinpoint marks
The treatment day
- Consultation. The doctor chooses depth, energy and tip. The tip is usually discarded after one use.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied. Time and product may be included.
- Treatment passes. The tip is stamped over the area in a grid. Pinpoint bleeding and swelling are common.
- Soothing. A calming product is applied and instructions are given.
Aftercare
- Pinpoint marks and redness usually settle within two to five days
- Avoid makeup for a short period as advised
- Use gentle products and sunscreen
- Do not pick at crusts
- Report severe swelling, pus or fever
Things to know first
- Swelling, bruising, pinpoint scabs, acne-like flares and, uncommonly, pigment change or infection can occur
- Pregnancy, active infection, isotretinoin use and implanted electronic devices usually need discussion
- Fat loss or a hollow look can occur with deep settings in thin faces
- Several sessions are common and results vary by person
- Not a replacement for surgery in advanced laxity
What the price of microneedle RF depends on
The tip is the most important single item. It is a disposable cartridge with a set number of pins, and a full-face session may use more than one. Some quotes include the tip, and some list it, so ask how many tips are billed per visit.
Shots and depth come next. A treatment can be set to a certain number of passes at a chosen depth, and the quote may be tied to the area. A deeper, more intensive setting costs more clinic time and may carry a higher price.
Then consider the course. Plans of several visits can lower the per-visit amount, but you commit in advance. Check whether numbing cream, soothing masks, tax and device branding are specified, since systems from different makers are priced differently.
Microneedle RF: common questions
Why is the tip a separate cost?
It is single-use and tied to a given pin count. Ask whether the price already includes it.
Does a higher depth cost more?
It can, because it needs more time and aftercare. The doctor sets depth at the exam.
Are three sessions enough?
It depends on your skin and goals. Plans often range from three to five visits.
Does the device brand change the price?
Often yes. Ask which system is used.
