Microwave Lifting (ONDA)
Microwave energy is used for mild tightening and for reducing small pockets of fat under the chin or on the body. A course usually involves several visits, so the number of sessions behind the price is the key detail.
How it works
A handpiece with built-in skin cooling delivers microwave energy that warms the deeper tissue layers, including the fat compartment. The heat can reduce some fat cells and stimulate tightening in the skin above. Treatment time depends on the size of the area, and the number of passes is set by the doctor. Many people have one to three visits spaced weeks apart. Cost is typically linked to the area, the number of sessions, and whether a single-use applicator is part of each visit. Results vary by person.
Who it may suit
- Mild laxity and small fat pockets beneath the chin
- People who do not want needles or surgery
- Treating arms, abdomen or thighs where mild tightening is the goal
- Those who can commit to a small course of visits
The treatment day
- Consultation. The doctor checks skin laxity and fat thickness and tells you whether the area is suitable and how many visits to plan.
- Marking the area. The treatment zone is drawn on the skin. Larger or multiple zones usually change the quote.
- Energy delivery. The handpiece moves in set patterns while cooling protects the surface. Most people feel warmth.
- Follow-up plan. The doctor suggests a timeline for the next visit. Ask whether it is priced separately or as part of a course.
Aftercare
- Mild redness or swelling is common for a day or two
- Drink water and avoid very hot showers briefly
- Use sunscreen on treated facial skin
- Report lasting pain, blisters or numbness
- Keep your session count for planning
Things to know first
- Temporary swelling, tenderness and bruising can occur; burns and nerve-related numbness are rare
- Not suitable with some implants or pacemakers
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding are common reasons to wait
- It is not a weight loss method and works on small, localized deposits
- Results vary and loose skin may need a different approach
What the price of microwave lifting depends on
The main unit is the treated area. A small area under the chin is priced differently from the abdomen or upper arms, and many clinics quote per area per session. Confirm which areas your estimate covers and whether each additional area is a new line.
The second unit is the session count. A single quoted visit may be only one part of a plan, and a course of several visits can change the per-session figure. Ask what happens if the doctor stops the plan early and whether unused sessions can be used later.
Check for extras: a single-use applicator, the consultation fee, tax and any follow-up check. Because the device is a specific microwave system, ask the clinic to confirm which one is used so that you can compare like with like.
Microwave Lifting (ONDA): common questions
Is the price per session or per course?
Both are common. Ask for the number of sessions in the plan and the price of each, and whether a course price is lower per visit.
Why does the area change the quote?
A larger area takes longer and uses more passes. Each extra zone is often a separate line.
Do I pay for numbing?
Often none is needed because the handpiece cools the skin. If numbing cream is used, ask whether it is listed.
Are the results the same for everyone?
No. Response depends on skin and fat thickness, so the doctor sets expectations at the consultation.
