Under-Eye Filler
Under-eye filler uses small amounts, so a low figure does not by itself indicate less value. What matters is the product chosen, the volume, and whether a follow-up visit is included. Because the area is delicate, the cost also reflects the experience and care involved.
How it works
A soft hyaluronic acid gel is placed below the eye in the hollow where the lid meets the cheek, to soften a groove and reduce the shadow it casts. It does not change the color of pigmented skin or fix puffiness from fat pads. The gel attracts water and can sometimes look swollen if too much is used, and an enzyme can dissolve it if needed.
Who it may suit
- People whose dark appearance comes mostly from a hollow or shadow.
- Those who are bothered by a tired look from tear-trough grooves.
- Anyone who wants a reversible approach.
The treatment day
- Careful assessment. The doctor checks whether a hollow, pigment or puffiness is the main cause, because filler suits only some of these.
- Numbing. Numbing cream is applied and allowed to work before injection.
- Injection. Very small amounts are placed with a fine needle or cannula in a deeper layer.
- Review. A follow-up check helps judge swelling and whether a small adjustment is needed.
Aftercare
- Use cold compresses gently and keep your head slightly raised when sleeping for the first night.
- Avoid rubbing the area and avoid strenuous exercise for a day or two.
- Bruising can last a week; makeup may cover it once the skin is settled.
- Seek urgent care for severe pain, vision changes, skin color change or sudden swelling.
Things to know first
- Swelling, bruising and a bluish tint from product under thin skin can occur.
- Vascular occlusion is a rare but serious risk around the eye and can affect vision, so careful technique and immediate care matter.
- Persistent puffiness or uneven lumps may need an enzyme to dissolve the product.
- Filler is less suitable for pronounced eye bags or darkness from pigment alone.
- Not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding or with active infection.
What the price of under-eye filler depends on
The volume is small, usually a fraction of a syringe across both eyes. Ask whether the quote is for both sides, how much product is planned and what happens to leftover gel. A smaller volume is not a flaw; over-filling this area is a common cause of poor results.
Product choice is the second driver. Soft, low-swelling gels designed for thin skin are generally used, and brands differ. The quote should name the product.
Also ask about a review visit and a touch-up policy, since swelling can take a week or more to settle. Numbing, consultation and VAT should appear as their own lines. If the doctor concludes during the exam that filler is not the right choice for your eyes, the plan and the quote may change.
Under-Eye Filler: common questions
Is the price for one eye or both?
Ask directly. Quotes are often for both sides, but the wording varies.
Why might the doctor advise against it?
If darkness comes from pigment or the problem is prominent fat pads, filler may not help or may worsen the look. The exam decides.
Is a follow-up included?
Often a short review is part of the visit, but extra product may be billed. Clarify before you start.
How long does the result last?
It varies by person and product, and the filler is gradually absorbed over months.
